How to Cut a Mango

It was a deal you just couldn’t pass up. Two mangoes for $2. You thought, why not? You love mango yogurt, mango smoothies and just about any dish that contains mangoes.

So, you get home and wonder, “How do I cut a mango?”

First, it’s important to know that mangoes have a thin seed that runs from top to bottom, right down the center. It cuts through the mid-line of the mango through the widest part (mangoes are not exactly round). Cut one side off, then the other, a little off center to avoid the seed.

Cut through the flesh of each half, but not through the skin:

Use a spoon to scoop out the pieces:

Trim off the skin of the center piece that contains the seed:

Then cut off the mango flesh:

A large mango will yield about 2 cups:
