Shrimp à la Créole for Dinner Tonight!

January 30, 2019 by Finite Foodie

What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Shrimp à la Créole
over Pasta or Rice

Steamed Vegetable with or without Dijon Garlic Dressing

If you’re a fan of shrimp like we are, then you really MUST try this dish. It has been a favorite for years and is always a hit with Richard (the Cajun of the family). This simplified and lightened-up version can be whipped up even after a busy day, especially if you keep a bag of frozen, peeled shrimp in your freezer. Just place the sealed plastic bag in a bowl of lukewarm water for 15 to 30 minutes to thaw. If you can buy fresh shrimp, that’s always better, but this recipe turns out well with either one.

We often make a variation of this recipe that we call Greek Shrimp, but you’ll have to buy the cookbook for that recipe!

Check out our other simple shrimp recipes on the website, including Classic Shrimp Scampi and Baked Shrimp Scampi.

We usually add a simple steamed green vegetable like green beans, Brussels Sprouts, broccoli, or asparagus depending on the season. A green salad is also a good option. Toss a few toasted pecans on top for a Southern flair.

We always make Jambalaya around Mardi Gras, but it makes a great meal anytime of the year! “Jambalaya was the first dish I made for my husband when we were dating… and I didn’t even know he was Cajun! It looks complicated, but it’s really not. The amounts and choices of meats (proteins) can be…
