Instructions
  1. Drain and rinse beans in a colander. Set aside.
  2. Crack egg into a liquid measuring cup and lightly beat with a fork. Alternatively, make flax egg (see How to Make a Flax Egg–click on link below).
  3. Transfer beans to a large bowl, then lightly mash with a food masher or fork, leaving some small pieces of beans.
  4. Add egg and all other ingredients. Stir to blend.
  5. Using hands, form into patties. We make about 8 medium patties, but you can make larger ones or tiny ones for sliders.
  6. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
