Our faded garden plants are looking pooped, which is exactly how we feel! It’s been a long, hot summer, and we’ve had enough of the triple digits and high humidity.
Labor Day is coming up, and it’s difficult to summon up the energy to invite our friends over for our annual cookout. If you feel the same way, you’ll be happy to know that we’ve put together a hassle-free menu. After all, who wants to labor in the kitchen on Labor Day? (Feel free to ask your guests to bring some chips, drinks or salad.)

This hassle-free menu includes some make-ahead items.
- Make the hibiscus tea the day before.
- Buy a roll or prepared polenta and your favorite marinara sauce. If desired, make our Fresh Marinara Sauce the day before.
- The cobbler could be made the day before as well, or in the morning of your cookout.
- Make the kabobs and optional balsamic reduction in the morning, but warm up the reduction and drizzle over kabobs or serve on the side, right before serving.
- Everything else can be cut and prepped 30 minutes to 2 hours before your guests arrive, so all you have to do is light the grill and start cooking!
