While you might not be able to travel to the French Quarter for the true Mardi Gras experience, that doesn’t mean your kitchen can’t have a Mardi Gras party of its own! We have celebrated this holiday for many years because of our Cajun heritage (Dad’s side). Our Mardi Gras celebration centered around our “secret” family gumbo recipe, which Dad joyfully makes each year. These parties have taken on a lot of forms over the years, and have provided us with many fond memories and funny stories.
Please enjoy your next Mardi Gras celebration with some of our Cajun favorites!
Our Shrimp á la Creole is a lighter version of this Cajun classic. You can peel and prepare the shrimp the “Cajun way” or you can purchase peeled and cleaned shrimp, which makes this recipe even easier. It’s delicious no matter what time of year you make it!
Mom served Dad some Jambalaya as the first meal she ever cooked for him, without even knowing he was Cajun! It was a match made in Heaven. Don’t be intimidated by the long list of ingredients. It’s easy to put together and absolutely delicious.
Laissez les bons temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!)
Enjoy this year’s Mardi Gras party!
