The other day we were wondering how to use up our last few whole wheat pita loaves, which had become quite dry. Since we love to snack on pita chips, we decided that would be a good use of our stale pitas.
We simply cut the pita into triangles, sprayed them with spray olive oil, and sprinkled some coarse sea salt on top. We baked them in our toaster oven and voilà — delicious and healthful, homemade pita chips that were not too oily or too salty. They were just right!
We see no reason to buy packaged pita chips again.

Make your own, healthier pita chips. Adjust the amount of oil and salt to your taste preferences, and use whole wheat pitas.
Tools:Knife and cutting board

- 2 loaves pita (whole grain recommended)
- spray olive oil
- salt (coarse recommended)
- Preheat oven (or toaster oven) to 325°F.
- Cut pita loaves into pie-shaped wedges, then open and separate.
- Spray both sides with spray oil, preferably extra virgin olive oil spray. Sprinkle salt evenly over them. Coarsely ground salt is especially nice, but any will do.
